Guide to the Dashboard section
Default View of the Dashboard
There are several charts in the Dashboard. Below every chart you will see a legend, and by clicking on legend items, you can turn them on/off in the chart.
- Cash In - This shows the total cash coming in, in the plan. This includes all income, sale of equity, borrowing from loans, return from investments, VAT, Sales Tax, GST and the sale of assets the business owns.
- Cash Out - This shows the total costs generated over the duration of the plan. This includes all costs, employees, interest and capital repayments and the purchase of new assets.
- Net Cash - Represents the final amount of cash your business has after all the costs have been deducted from the total amount of income you have gained at the end of the selected time period. It is calculated as total income minus total costs. This figure is the same as the "Closing Bank Position" figure on the Cash Flow reports for the last month in the time period that is being viewed.
- Funding Requirements - The Funding Requirements chart shows how much funding the business needs to cover its costs. You can use this to determine when you may need to generate more income, cut costs or borrow money. This figure is the highest amount the business is overdrawn by, in the selected time period.
- Cash Flow - This chart shows the cash flow of the business. If you have several sections generating Income or Costs, these bars will be broken down by Section. The green bars do include tax being collected by the business, and the red bars include tax being paid by the business.
- The Cost Breakdown - The Cost Breakdown chart shows the total amount generated over the selected time period. The wheel graph will show with precision each type of cost, giving you a visual overall view on how much your business is spending in which area.
- Loan Repayments - Loan Repayments shows the capital monthly repayments and interest payments, and the total of these over the time period being viewed.
- Assets - This chart shows the makeup of the business' value according to the balance sheet. At the top of the chart, it will show the final total amount of value in assets your business has during the selected time period.
- Breakeven - This chart shows when the business will break even - that is, when the cumulative amount of money spent on business activities will be covered by the cumulative income the business generates.
- Section dropdown - Using the section plan dropdown you can filter the entire dashboard to display information based solely on a single plan section or for the entire plan. You can further customise the output by selecting a specific group from your plan section, as more dropdown options appear.Example: select a specific Plan section, SalesExample: select a specific Plan section, SalesNow select a specific group in the second dropdown
To go back to the default, all you have to do is select "Entire Plan" instead of your selected plan section.
By default the section view is "Entire Plan".
-
Time Range - Using the time range dropdown, you can select which time range you want to forecast. Usually, these time ranges are grouped in a 1 year range, however there is also the possibility to make custom time range dates if you need more flexibility with your forecasting.
-
Report frequency dropdown & Dashboard full screen - The Report frequency dropdown will process the information from the time range dropdown and display it in different frequencies on the dashboard. The frequencies are Monthly, Quarterly or Yearly. Clicking on the expand button on the right side of the dropdown will expand the dashboard to the entire size of your current screen.
